Understanding Everything

Madison is amazingly able to grasp complex topics. At her young age, she’s able to talk with me about anything. But this also helps her to begin a wonderful journey into the world of humor!

That’s right, Madison likes to tell jokes. One of her favorites is “what do you call a cold penguin?” Normally she can almost get through that much of it correctly. The answer? “A birrrrrrrrd.” Clever, right?!

She’s reading at a stellar rate. I remember at the end of kindergarten going in to meet with her teacher. We’re in there and Mrs. Davis says “we discovered with end of year tests that your daughter is an excellent reader.” Facepalm, lady. We’ve known she’s an excellent reader all school year, but you’re just finding out? Where have you been?!

While Madison understands complicated subjects, at times her ability to misinterpret situations is humorous. Madison’s mom will say something to me, and Madison will be staring off into space, then her shoulders will slump, because she’s incorrectly connected the dots. It’s not always a miss, as earlier this year she was playing outside with Drew and a neighbor lady asked her about playing out at the park, and Madison’s response was “oh, you’re wondering why we aren’t in school.” The neighbor walked straight to our house to knock on our door and tell us because she couldn’t believe that level of intellect.
